Sofa Cleaning in Annakhil, Marrakech

Here the sofa is used every day, and it shows: sun cream, chlorine, pet hair, spilled snacks. This is not a showpiece lounge, it is the most heavily used piece of furniture in the house.

In short

In Annakhil, in Marrakech, EPUREVA treats sofas in family homes lived in all year round, on site and by hot-water extraction: organic stains, sun cream, chlorinated water carried back from the pool, pet hair and smells settled into the foam. An L-shaped sofa costs 550 MAD incl. VAT in the small size and 600 MAD in the large; a U-shaped one, 650 MAD or 750 MAD. Stains and smells you point out trigger no automatic surcharge, and the textile minimum is 400 MAD.

The piece of furniture that catches everything the garden brings in

Annakhil is not a district of second homes. These are villas lived in all year round, with children at nearby schools, a dog or a cat, a watered garden and, almost always, a swimming pool. The living-room sofa sits at the end of that chain: people sit on it straight out of the water, straight in from the garden, at the end of the day.

The four things that come up on every job in the area:

  • Sun cream. A grease-based product loaded with mineral filters. It does not leave a sharp stain, it leaves a dull halo that spreads and holds dust to it. The affected zones are always the same: top of the backrest, front of the seat, arm rests.
  • Pool water. Residual chlorine drying in a dyed fibre lightens it slowly, in patches. It is irreversible, which is why we mention it before starting.
  • Pet hair and skin flakes. Anchored in the weave, they do not lift with ordinary vacuuming; they are raised with a brush before any water is applied.
  • Sand and garden soil, carried in underfoot and by dry palm debris, working their way down between the seat cushions.

Working in a living room where the family stays present

The villa is not cleared for our visit, and no one goes to a hotel. That calls for a precise organisation, which we explain before starting.

The living room is treated zone by zone, not as one block: we never wet every seat at once, so part of the room stays usable.

The floor is protected under the furniture and along the machine's path — the extraction hose runs from the room to the vehicle, and a wet tiled floor in a house with children running around is a hazard, not a detail. We bring the machine and the products; the house provides a water point and a power socket, without which we do not work.

Waste water is stored in the tank and removed by us, never poured into the garden or the pool. Pets are kept out of the room during the job and until the furniture is dry: the machine is noisy and the hose attracts dogs.

Finally, we ask what needs to stay usable in the hours that follow. If the family is eating in the living room, we start with the bedroom mattresses and the rug, and leave the large L-shaped sofa for last. The order of work follows the household's day, not the other way round.

Drying is planned before we arrive, not after

This is the question that settles everything in an occupied home. The benchmark is known in advance: half a day to a full day of drying, sometimes longer. What tips it one way or the other only shows once we are in the room.

Three things count: the thickness and density of the foam, the volume of air and the possibility of a through draught, and the day's humidity. A thin sofa in a living room open onto the terrace has nothing in common with a thick-foamed bench in a closed, north-facing room.

So we give the exact time on arrival, according to the method chosen, once the room has been seen and the foam checked, and we stick to it. Extraction finishes with dry passes and no injection, which remove most of the residual moisture; ventilation is organised during the treatment, not afterwards.

Three instructions genuinely cut the wait, and two mistakes double it: opening up to create a through draught, leaving seat cushions flat instead of standing them up against the backrest, and not putting throws and decorative cushions back on. The two mistakes are covering the seat with a sheet "to protect it" and shutting the air-conditioned room back up. Until the sofa is dry right through, nobody sits on it.

The old stain, and what we refuse to promise

On a family sofa, there is always a stain no one remembers the origin of. The honest answer depends on its age and its nature.

A recent organic mark — juice, chocolate, food grease, mud — usually responds well. A protein stain the family has already treated with hot water has often been baked into the fibre; it fades, it does not always disappear.

An old colouring stain, an alcohol-based felt pen, bleach or a dye have changed the fibre itself: there is nothing left to extract, and we say so as irreversible before starting. Fleas brought in by the pet or mould under a cushion are not stains: they need a diagnosis, and cleaning alone may not be enough.

We would rather flag three unrecoverable stains on a sofa and remove twelve, than promise fabric like new: some stains, discolouration or smells may remain, and no 100% result is guaranteed.

Pointing out a stain costs nothing extra — it triggers no automatic surcharge and helps us prepare the method. On velvet, wool, silk or a fabric of unknown make-up, that method is confirmed from photos. The rest of the job stays covered by the free re-do guarantee.

The amounts in the grid are indicative and confirmed after photos or a visit. Bedroom mattresses and rugs are treated on the same visit; the most common case here is a small L-shaped sofa at 550 MAD plus the children's two single mattresses, 2 × 300 MAD = 600 MAD, making 1,150 MAD incl. VAT. Mattress treatment and our other services in the neighbourhood cover the most common combination here.

Frequently asked questions

We have a dog that sleeps on the sofa — will the smell really go away?

It fades markedly when it comes from organic matter held in the foam, because hot-water extraction removes it instead of masking it. Hair is raised with a brush before any water is applied, otherwise it stays anchored in the weave. Animal urine needs a targeted treatment, with no automatic surcharge; an old smell may still remain, though, and no 100% result is guaranteed.

Do sun-cream marks on the backrest come off?

Most of the time they fade considerably. Sun cream is a grease-based product loaded with mineral filters, forming a dull halo rather than a sharp stain. It is treated by pre-treating the affected zone then extracting across the whole panel, not just the halo, to avoid a colour difference once dry. A fibre already lightened by chlorine, though, cannot be recovered.

Do we need to leave the house while the sofa is cleaned?

No. The living room is treated zone by zone so part of the room stays usable, the floor is protected along the machine's path and the waste water leaves with us. We ask for a water point and a power socket, for pets to be kept out of the room until it is fully dry, and for the coffee table and any objects on the seats to be cleared.

Can the sofa, mattresses and rugs be treated on the same visit?

Yes, and it is the simplest option in Annakhil, since one visit covers everything. The textile minimum is 400 MAD incl. VAT: a single mattress on its own, at 300 MAD, would be brought up to 400 MAD, whereas with a 2 × 3 m living-room rug (6 m² × 30 MAD = 180 MAD) the visit comes to 480 MAD. Rooms that need to be back in use first are treated first, bedrooms at the end of the day.
