Mattress cleaning in Marrakech
A third of your life is spent on it, and it is the one textile in the house that never gets washed. Not in a machine, not by hand: nobody knows where to start.
In short
Mattress cleaning in Marrakech is done in the client's home, without moving the mattress, by deep vacuuming followed by hot-water extraction with a low water input. EPUREVA charges 300 MAD incl. VAT for a single mattress and 400 MAD incl. VAT for a double, with a 400 MAD textile minimum per visit: a single mattress on its own therefore comes to 400 MAD. Stains and smells trigger no automatic surcharge. Drying takes half a day to a full day, sometimes longer.
What is actually inside a mattress
A mattress a few years old contains, by mass: skin flakes, sweat absorbed night after night, sebum, mineral dust, and the dust mite population that feeds on the first of those.
That deposit is not on the surface. Night-time perspiration goes through the sheet and the protector, penetrates the comfort layer and fixes itself there. That is why a mattress can smell while the sheets have just come out of the wash: the smell is under the surface, a few centimetres down.
Vacuuming alone removes the top layer. Extraction goes after what has penetrated, with one constraint: the volume of water has to stay low, which forces a different method from the one used on a sofa.
Urine, sweat and blood — three stains, three chemistries
These are the three cases that actually make people have a mattress cleaned, and they must not be treated the same way. None of the three triggers an automatic surcharge: mention them in your request, they help us prepare the visit.
Urine. A compound stain: one part soluble in water, plus crystallised salts that resurface as a yellow ring every time moisture wicks back up. A simple wash removes the first and leaves the second. It needs an enzyme treatment that breaks the organic matter down, followed by complete extraction. It is also the only way to eliminate the smell rather than mask it.
Sweat. Diffuse, with no outline, it yellows the sleeping face over broad areas. It is treated across the whole surface, never zone by zone, or the difference will show.
Blood. A protein stain: cold water only. Hot water coagulates the protein and fixes it permanently in the fibre. It is the most common and the most irreversible mistake.
On an old ring, some stains, discolouration or smells may persist: no 100% result is guaranteed. The full reasoning by stain family sits on our stain removal page, and our guide how to clean a mattress gives the emergency steps to take before we arrive.
Why a mattress is never flooded
A mattress cannot be rinsed and cannot be wrung out. Any water that goes down into the foam block or the spring unit stays there, and a damp mattress core takes days to dry — in a closed bedroom that produces exactly what you were trying to get rid of: a smell and good conditions for mould.
The method is therefore the opposite of the one used on a rug: little solution, plenty of extraction. Short passes, reduced flow, and one or two vacuum-only passes after each treated zone. We work face by face, never on the edge, and we treat only the sleeping face unless you ask otherwise.
The mattress stays on the bed frame: moving it only serves to wet the sides.
The dust mite, and what extraction really changes
The dust mite feeds on skin flakes and needs humidity. A mattress provides both, which makes it the main concentration point in a home — far more than a living-room rug.
Extraction removes a large part of that food source: skin flakes, sweat, sebum. We do not, however, sell an anti-dust-mite treatment, and we do not promise a "mite-free" mattress: cleaning removes what feeds them, it does not replace a treatment. An infestation — bed bugs, for example — needs a diagnosis from photos, and cleaning alone may not be enough.
Saying so is a commercially unhelpful choice in the short term. It is also the only way to stay credible about what cleaning actually does.
When can you sleep on it again
Allow half a day to a full day before making the bed, sometimes longer on a thick mattress or in high humidity. The exact time is given according to the method chosen; the mattress is neither used nor covered until it is completely dry.
Three instructions that genuinely change the outcome: leave the bedroom open and ventilated throughout drying, do not put the protector or the sheets back before it is completely dry, and do not push the mattress back against a cold wall while it is still damp.
The work is logically scheduled early in the day. A second mattress, a sofa or a rug treated in the same visit are added together, and the textile minimum applies only once: a single and a double mattress come to 300 + 400 = 700 MAD incl. VAT, with no top-up. See sofa cleaning and the upholstery price grid. The full scope is on upholstery cleaning in Marrakech.

Frequently asked questions
How much does mattress cleaning cost in Marrakech?
300 MAD incl. VAT for a single mattress, 400 MAD incl. VAT for a double. The textile minimum is 400 MAD per visit: a single mattress on its own is charged 300 MAD plus a 100 MAD top-up, that is 400 MAD. A single and a double in the same visit: 700 MAD, with no top-up. These prices are indicative and confirmed after photos.
How do you remove a urine stain from a mattress?
It needs an enzyme treatment, not a simple wash. A urine stain is made of a water-soluble part and crystallised salts that resurface as a yellow ring every time moisture wicks back up: water alone removes the first and leaves the second, and the smell returns. The enzyme breaks the organic matter down and extraction removes it. The stain triggers no automatic surcharge.
Can a blood stain be cleaned with hot water?
Absolutely not. Blood is a protein stain: hot water coagulates the protein and fixes it permanently in the fibre. It is the most common and the most irreversible mistake on a mattress. The treatment is carried out with cold water only, with a product suited to proteins.
Will the mattress be soaked?
No, the method is the opposite of the one used on a rug: little solution, plenty of extraction. Short passes, reduced flow, and one or two vacuum-only passes after each treated zone. A mattress cannot be rinsed and cannot be wrung out — any water that went down into the foam block or the spring unit would sit there for days.
Does cleaning get rid of dust mites in a mattress?
It removes a large part of what feeds them — skin flakes, sweat, sebum — which is the main lever. We do not sell an anti-dust-mite treatment as a surcharge and we do not promise a "mite-free" mattress. An infestation, bed bugs included, needs a diagnosis from photos: cleaning alone may not be enough.
Do I need to take the mattress off the bed before you arrive?
No, it stays on the bed frame: moving it would only wet the sides. Just take off the sheets, the protector and the mattress topper. Only the sleeping face is treated, unless you specifically ask for both faces, which makes drying longer.
When can I make the bed again?
Once it is completely dry: allow half a day to a full day, sometimes longer on a thick mattress or in high humidity. Leave the bedroom open and ventilated, do not put the protector or the sheets back before then, and do not push the mattress against a cold wall while it is still damp.
My mattress smells even though my sheets are clean — why?
Because the smell is not at the surface. Night-time perspiration goes through the sheet and the protector, penetrates the comfort layer and fixes there along with sebum and skin flakes. It is that deposit, a few centimetres below the sleeping face, that produces the smell, and only extraction goes and gets it.
