Cleaning on the route de Casablanca, Marrakech

On the route de Casablanca, a shop window is not a comfort item. It is the commercial tool of a business that people discover from a moving car. And it is not dirtied by its customers.

Buildings designed to be seen from a car at sixty

The route de Casablanca is not a residential district, and treating it as one is the first mistake. It is a city approach road lined with continuous commercial frontages: car dealerships and showrooms, bank branches, large DIY and furniture stores, roadside hotels, company head offices, filling stations. Immediately behind them, recent residential schemes and estates in the second rank.

What all of it has in common comes down to one sentence: very large glazed areas facing the carriageway. The glass is not there to bring in light, it is there to show what is behind it. Its cleanliness is a commercial item, not a comfort item.

The floors follow the same shop-window logic: large-format porcelain and polished concrete in the display halls, marble in the lobbies of agencies and hotels, external paving on the forecourts and car parks. No traditional floors on this road. Polished concrete calls for a precaution we repeat wherever it appears: it takes neither acid nor aggressive detergent, and a stain on it is permanent.

The greasy film that traffic leaves on a shopfront

A showroom manager who calls from this road almost always asks the same question: "why does it look dull when it has just been cleaned?". The answer is a diagnosis, not a sales line.

A roadside shop window does not receive dry dust, it receives a greasy film: unburnt hydrocarbons, exhaust residue, brake dust. That deposit is a binder. Gone over with plain water and a squeegee, it does not come off — it spreads.

The result is a surface that is clean to the touch but scatters the light instead of letting it through. Seen from the carriageway, the frontage still looks dull, and the business has paid for nothing.

What we do differently, in order:

  1. Degreasing before washing. A degreasing product applied over the whole surface, contact time respected, mechanical action with an applicator. Without that step, nothing else is any use on this road.
  2. Squeegeeing in one continuous pass, with no going back over it with a dry cloth — it is the dry cloth that leaves the streaks you see in low light, exactly the ones a driver sees.
  3. Frames, tracks and the bottom of the glass. The greasy film settles first at the foot of the glazing, where wheel spray reaches up. Perfect glass above a black track is more conspicuous, not less. The detail is on cleaning frames, tracks and joinery.
  4. A frequency stated openly, with no contract. On a high-traffic road the useful frequency is counted in weeks, not in quarters. Every visit is priced per m² of shop glass, with no commitment; it is waiting that costs, because a heavily soiled shop window takes +20% on the base price.

Conversely, what we refuse to let anyone believe: that washing harder would replace the degreasing. It is not a question of force, it is a question of the chemistry of the deposit.

Shop windows, offices, apartments, premises to reopen: the priorities on this road

1. Showroom glass. 25 MAD per m² of shop window, both sides included — width × height of each pane, added up —, 15 MAD per m² for the glass inside the display hall, 1,000 MAD minimum per shop.

A flat fascia sign no more than 1 m high counts at 100 MAD per metre of length, 200 MAD minimum, never marked up; raised letters or a light box: the supplement is confirmed on a photo.

A showroom elevation is washed up to 3 m from the ground at the base price, between 3 and 5 m by pole at +25%, and no higher: EPUREVA has neither a cherry picker nor ropes, and hires neither in. See what a shopfront service covers.

2. Head offices and office floors. On the inside only, 15 MAD per m² of glass faces, 500 MAD minimum; a glazed partition washed on both sides counts both faces. The outside face of an office building is not offered, on any floor.

3. The apartments in the second rank. Window 75 MAD up to 2 m², patio door 150 MAD up to 4 m², 400 MAD minimum call-out charge; the road's greasy film reaches the patio doors that face it too. For routine upkeep, apartment housekeeping by the day costs 800 MAD a day, one person included.

4. Premises being reopened. The road renews itself constantly: names change, floors are refitted, lobbies are redone. Post-construction clean 20 MAD per m² on standard tiles, 30 MAD per m² on polished concrete or marble, 3,000 MAD minimum for a shop or offices; many marks from the works, +20%; thick residue, +40%.

Offcuts and packaging removed before we come: we do not clear out. Retail space is covered in detail on post-construction cleaning of offices and shops.

Working at the foot of an elevation without stopping the traffic or the customers

On this road, vehicle and lorry access is excellent — it is the only thing that is easy here. The constraints come from the traffic itself.

  • No work on the carriageway side at peak times. A team at the foot of an elevation on a busy road is not a comfort question but a safety one. We cone off the working area every time and move the slot rather than reduce the coning.
  • Kerbside parking prohibited on some stretches. The vehicle drops off and moves on; the equipment stays grouped and marked, never scattered across the forecourt.
  • Continuous opening hours. Most businesses on this road do not close at midday. The visit is set before opening or after closing, on a slot agreed in advance and kept.
  • Water and power available, a condition without which we cannot do the job, and which here allows pure-water work on the large glazed areas.

The forecourt and the car park, on the other hand, are outside our scope: we do neither external paving nor pressure washing. Better to know that before planning the shop windows, and to have the ground done after our visit rather than before.

What goes on the quotation for a roadside business

The quotation names the glazed surfaces, the faces, the working slot and the protocol chosen — degreasing included where it is called for. It also states what is not covered: glazing above 5 m, the outside face of offices, special signs not confirmed on a photo, the forecourt.

The invoice is compliant, with one contact from the first message to payment. The inspection checklist is signed at every visit, and the return guarantee applies: a ticked item that is not up to standard is put right free of charge within 48 hours. EPUREVA carries professional public liability insurance and works for more than 195 clients.

All prices are incl. VAT and remain indicative until the photos or the visit: the real number of m² and the state of an elevation are confirmed on three to five photos, and no supplement is committed without your agreement.

For a figure, describe the premises and the run of shopfront on the quotation request; the sectors of Marrakech and its surroundings are set out on the page listing the areas served.

Frequently asked questions

Why do the windows of a showroom on the route de Casablanca go dull again a few days after being cleaned?

Because washing with plain water does not remove the greasy film left by traffic. Unburnt hydrocarbons and brake dust form a binding deposit that spreads rather than lifts: the glass is clean to the touch but scatters the light, which shows immediately from the carriageway.

On this road, EPUREVA applies a degreasing product with a contact time before washing, then squeegees in one continuous pass with no going back over it with a dry cloth.

How often should a glazed elevation on a high-traffic road be cleaned?

The useful frequency is counted in weeks on a run directly exposed to the carriageway: the greasy deposit rebuilds for as long as the traffic goes past.

There is no contract and no sliding rate: every visit is priced per m², 25 MAD incl. VAT of shop glass with a 1,000 MAD minimum per shop. Spacing the visits out gains nothing, since a heavily soiled shop window takes a 20% supplement.

Can you work on a frontage on the route de Casablanca without blocking the traffic or the customers?

Yes. The visit is set before opening or after closing, on a slot agreed in advance, and the working area at the foot of the elevation is coned off. We do not work on the carriageway side at peak times and we do not park at the kerb on stretches where it is prohibited: the vehicle drops off and then moves, and the equipment stays grouped and marked.

Is the forecourt and car park of a business on the route de Casablanca cleaned at the same time as the windows?

No: forecourts, car parks and external paving are not among our services, and we do no pressure washing. We clean the shop windows, the glass inside the hall, the flat fascia sign and office glazing on the inside. If the paving is to be washed the same day, have it done after us, otherwise spray carrying dirt comes back onto the bottom of the windows that have just been degreased.
