Shopfront window cleaning

A shopfront is not judged close up. It is judged from the opposite pavement, against the light, by someone deciding in three seconds whether to walk in. That view sets the standard.

In short

Shopfront window cleaning in Marrakech is scheduled outside trading hours and covers the main glass, the glazed door and the glass inside the shop. EPUREVA charges 25 MAD incl. VAT per m² of shop window, both sides included, and 15 MAD incl. VAT per m² of glass inside, with a 1,000 MAD shop minimum. A flat fascia sign is added at 100 MAD incl. VAT per metre of length, 200 MAD minimum. On a frontage exposed to the sand wind, a regular visit stops the haze from turning into a deposit that carries a supplement.

A shopfront is not a pane, it is a selling tool

The difference is not rhetorical, it is technical. On a domestic window you look through the glass. On a shopfront you look into it, and the glass is lit from inside by spotlights that reveal everything a rough wash leaves behind: unrinsed detergent haze, the squeegee mark at the end of the pass, the fibre from a cloth left in a corner.

What the visit covers on a frontage:

  • the main glass, outside and inside, with no final wiping
  • the glazed door and the entrance lobby, routinely missed
  • the bottom of the window, at street splash height
  • the door handles and push plates, degreased
  • the applied signage and window graphics, worked around carefully

The sum follows our estimate: width × height of each pane on the frontage, added up; 25 MAD incl. VAT per m², both sides included. A shop with two panes of 2.5 m × 2.4 m and a glazed door of 1 m × 2.2 m totals 14.2 m², so 355 MAD: a 645 MAD top-up brings it to the 1,000 MAD shop minimum.

Its 1.5 m flat fascia sign would come to 150 MAD, raised to the 200 MAD minimum and added afterwards: 1,200 MAD incl. VAT in all. A showroom with 48 m² of shop windows and 10 m² of glass inside clears the minimum on its own: 1,200 + 150 = 1,350 MAD incl. VAT.

The glazed band above the signage is worked by pole from the ground when it sits between 3 and 5 metres, at +25% with feasibility confirmed on photos; above 5 metres, we do not do it. The detail is on pole cleaning at height.

Fingerprints, street grease and window graphics

Three types of soiling dominate on a frontage, and none behaves like the dust veil on a villa window.

Fingerprints. Greasy, concentrated between 90 cm and 1.40 m, and water-repellent: without local degreasing first, water runs around them and they are still visible once the glass dries.

Street grease. On a busy road, the pollution film mixes hydrocarbons and dust. It does not rinse, it has to be lifted. A shop window declared very dirty, with no paint or cement, takes +20% on the base; that is said beforehand, never found on the invoice.

Window graphics. Applied lettering, promotional stickers and frosted film are washed by contact, never with a squeegee run at full length: a blade edge lifts the corner of a vinyl in a single pass. The edges are done by hand. Removing an old vinyl altogether counts as encrusted adhesive, at +40%, as on window cleaning after building work.

Restaurants, snack bars and greasy condensation

A business that cooks creates a problem no shop knows: greasy condensation. Cooking vapour rises, condenses on the inner face of the glass and leaves an oily film that traps dust immediately. The result is glass that looks dirty two days after the visit.

Two practical consequences. First, the inner face needs systematic degreasing before washing, which is not the case in a clothes shop. Second, the useful frequency is higher: on a restaurant frontage a weekly rhythm holds, a monthly one does not.

The same vapour settles on the glass between the dining room and the kitchen. It counts as glass inside the shop, at 15 MAD incl. VAT per m².

The slot, and why it is confirmed in writing

The most common complaint against cleaning companies in this city is not the quality of the work: it is the appointment that is not kept, with no call and no explanation. For a retailer that does not mean inconvenience, it means opening on a Saturday morning with a dirty frontage.

How we work on shopfronts:

  • visits before opening or after closing, never during busy hours
  • date and slot set when the job is confirmed, from the day after your request, and confirmed again in writing the day before
  • the name of the person attending given with the confirmation
  • checklist signed on site, item by item, and a free re-do within 48 hours on any ticked item found not up to standard

For a showroom in Sidi Ghanem, the same discipline applies to the display glass and to the aluminium around it.

What frequency, for which location

Location decides more than the type of business does.

  • Frontage on a busy road, ground floor: weekly. The pollution film rebuilds within days.
  • Shop in a sheltered retail street: fortnightly in normal season, weekly through the chergui.
  • Showroom on a business park with parking: fortnightly to monthly; the dust is mineral and dry, and it rinses off easily.
  • Restaurant with an open kitchen: weekly, internal degreasing included.

Let us be precise about what frequency changes: every visit is priced on the same grid, shop minimum included, the tenth at the same price as the first. What a regular rhythm spares you is the supplements — +20% for a very dirty shop window, +40% for an encrusted deposit — because a recent deposit rinses while an old one has to be scraped.

The full grid sits on our glazing rates. For an estimate, give the width and height of each pane, the sign if there is one, and the timing you want from our enquiry page.

Frequently asked questions

Will you come before my shop opens?

Yes. Shopfronts and entrance lobbies are cleaned before opening or after closing, on a slot set when the job is confirmed. It is confirmed again in writing the day before the visit, with the name of the person attending, precisely because the missed appointment is the first complaint levelled at contractors in this city.

How much does shopfront cleaning cost?

25 MAD incl. VAT per m² of shop window, both sides included, and 15 MAD incl. VAT per m² of glass inside the shop, with a 1,000 MAD shop minimum: below that, a top-up is added.

The area is the width × height of each pane, added up. A 14.2 m² frontage comes to 355 MAD of items, topped up to 1,000 MAD. These prices are estimates, confirmed after photos or a visit.

Is cleaning the sign included in the shop window price?

No, it is added. A flat fascia sign no more than 1 metre high costs 100 MAD incl. VAT per metre of length, with a 200 MAD minimum. It comes after the shop minimum and is not marked up by the supplements. Raised lettering, an illuminated sign or a panel over 1 metre high: the supplement is confirmed on a photo.

Can your squeegees lift my applied lettering?

Not if the work is done properly. Window graphics, lettering and frosted film are washed by contact and their edges worked by hand, never with a squeegee run across the full width: a blade edge lifts the corner of a vinyl in a single pass. Vinyl that is already lifting is flagged before the work.

My restaurant window turns greasy again in two days — why?

Because cooking vapour condenses on the inner face and leaves an oily film that traps dust immediately. Washing with water alone is not enough: the inner face needs systematic degreasing before washing, and the useful frequency is weekly, not monthly.

How often should a frontage be cleaned in Marrakech?

On a busy road at ground level, once a week, because the pollution film rebuilds within days. In a sheltered retail street, twice a month in normal season and once a week during the chergui. In a business park showroom, twice a month is enough, since the dust there is mineral and dry.

What happens if I am not happy with the result at opening?

The checklist is walked through and signed on site at the end of every visit, item by item. If a ticked item is not up to standard, EPUREVA puts that point right free of charge within 48 hours. That is what makes the commitment enforceable without argument, rather than a general promise of satisfaction.
