Sofa Cleaning in Palmeraie, Marrakech

The Palmeraie's hot, dry air is a hot-water extraction job's best ally. It becomes its worst enemy the moment a window is left open to speed things up.

In short

In the Palmeraie of Marrakech, EPUREVA cleans L- and U-shaped sofas, mattresses and rugs at home by hot-water extraction, with drying carried out under cover and with controlled ventilation, never with windows open or in the open air: allow half a day to a full day, sometimes longer. An L-shaped sofa costs 550 MAD incl. VAT in the small size and 600 MAD in the large, a U-shaped sofa 650 MAD or 750 MAD, a rug 30 MAD per m², with a 400 MAD textile minimum.

A damp textile in the open air takes back everything just removed

The instinct is logical, and it is wrong. It is hot, the air is dry, the terrace is large: so the cushions come out and the windows are thrown open to dry things faster.

On a Palmeraie property, that move undoes the job. The setting is a mix of sand, bare track soil and palm debris, stirred up by the slightest passing vehicle and by the afternoon wind. A still-damp fibre is open and tacky: it catches this load and locks it in as it dries, more deeply than a dry textile would have absorbed it in a week.

The result is particularly deceptive because it does not show up straight away. The sofa looks clean that evening, and the grey film reappears three or four days later, evenly, with no identifiable stain. The client concludes the cleaning did nothing, when it was the drying that undid it.

The rule in this area is therefore explicit: drying happens in a closed space, cushions brought in, openings shut on the track side and on the prevailing wind side.

Controlled ventilation rather than a through draught

Closing the room does not mean stopping the air. It means choosing where it comes from.

Extraction finishes with dry passes, with no injection, which remove most of the water left in the foam — that is where most of the drying time is decided, far more than in the ventilation that follows. Air movement is then organised inside the closed space, in a circuit, with a possible opening on the side facing away from the tracks and the driveway, never facing the loaded wind.

A Palmeraie property almost always has the right room available: a winter lounge, an interior room with no direct opening to the outside, a covered patio. When the sofa cannot be moved, it is the room that is adapted, with exposed openings shut for the whole drying period.

The general benchmark is half a day to a full day, sometimes longer; the exact time is announced once the room has been seen, based on volume, foam thickness and orientation. Until it is fully dry, nobody sits on the sofa and nothing covers it.

That timing does not hold on a day of strong wind: in that case, the job is postponed or limited to interior rooms. The principle behind extraction is set out on our hot-water extraction method.

Covered-terrace seating, outdoor cushions and large sofas

A property in this area rarely has just one sofa's worth of seating. It is a set spread across several spaces, and each space does not follow the same regime.

  • The indoor lounge is the simplest: it only picks up dust coming in through the windows, and it is treated like a standard domestic textile.
  • The covered-terrace lounge carries the most soiling. It is sheltered from rain but not from sand, and its cushions spend their days outside. They are beaten and brushed before any water is applied, otherwise fine mud is created inside the foam.
  • The Moroccan salon, where the house has one, is not on our price list, which only covers L- and U-shaped sofas: its benches are priced from photos sent on WhatsApp, before any visit.
  • Removable seat cushions are treated on both faces then put back flat, never stood upright against a backrest while still damp.

We do not treat outdoor furniture left unsheltered, or textiles exposed to automatic sprinklers whose programme has not been switched off the evening before: that is a condition set before we travel. A cushion that has taken on water and shows specks of mould needs a diagnosis: cleaning alone may not be enough. The formats we price are presented on our sofa cleaning page.

An address with no street number, a visit that is planned ahead

The last stretch of road shapes a soft-furnishings job as much as anything else. A gate set far from the house, a long driveway, an unnamed track: the equipment has to be carried, and the extraction hose has a limited length.

Before we travel, we therefore ask for a GPS point, the approximate distance between the gate and the room to be treated, and whether a power socket and a water point are available nearby — without water and electricity, we do not work.

Pricing is set from photos and measurements sent in advance — an overall view of each lounge, a view of one corner to identify the L or U shape, the length and width of each rug. On velvet, wool, silk or an unknown fabric, those photos are also used to confirm the method.

Example: a large U-shaped covered-terrace sofa, 750 MAD, and a 2.5 × 3.5 m rug, that is 8.75 m² × 30 MAD = 262.50 MAD; total 1,012.50 MAD, rounded to the dirham, giving an estimate of 1,013 MAD incl. VAT.

Amounts are indicative, confirmed after photos or a visit, and no surcharge is committed without your approval; stains you point out do not trigger one automatically. Some stains, discolouration or smells may remain: no 100% result is guaranteed.

One visit covers the whole household's textiles: sofas, bedroom mattresses, living-room rugs. The rest of what we do on properties in the area is described on our page for Palmeraie properties, and the wider picture of the sector on sofa, rug and mattress cleaning in Marrakech.

Frequently asked questions

Can the sofa dry outdoors, since it is hot and dry in the Palmeraie?

No, and that is the main mistake made in this area. A still-damp fibre is open: exposed to sand and palm debris stirred up by the wind and by vehicles on the tracks, it catches and locks it in as it dries.

The sofa looks clean that evening and picks up a grey film again within three or four days. Drying is carried out in a closed space, with controlled ventilation.

Do you work on a day of strong wind on a Palmeraie property?

Not on a terrace lounge or on outdoor cushions. The treatment would be undone before drying finished. In that case, we postpone the job or limit it to interior rooms, whose exposed openings stay shut for the whole drying period. We would rather delay by a day than charge for a result that will not last the week.

How do you price the sofas in a Palmeraie villa?

By format, piece by piece: an L-shaped sofa costs 550 MAD incl. VAT small and 600 MAD large, a U-shaped sofa 650 MAD or 750 MAD. Rugs are counted length × width, at 30 MAD per m².

A Moroccan salon or a straight sofa is not on this list: send us photos on WhatsApp and we answer before any visit. If the total stays below the 400 MAD textile minimum, it is topped up to that amount.

Does the machine's hose reach the house when the gate is far away?

That is exactly what we check before setting off. We ask for a GPS point, the approximate distance between the gate and the room to be treated, and whether a power socket and a water point are available nearby.

On long driveways, the equipment is carried to the room and set up as close as possible to the textile, not from the vehicle. It is one of the reasons the visit is planned the day before.
